The Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition, Football will help design, direct and facilitate programming relating to the role of nutrition for Football student athletes to assist in enhancing athletic performance and overall well-being. This position will assist the Director of Sports Nutrition-Football in fueling and educating the Notre Dame Football program. This position will actively engage and collaborate with all sports performance staff, Football Operations,
and Campus Dining to help maximize the potential of each student-athlete through the development, direction, and implementation of sports nutrition initiatives.

Overarching:
This position will play an integral role in providing practical and evidence-based nutrition and health and wellness assistance to the Football program in concert with the mission and vision of the Notre Dame Sports Nutrition Department.

Football Nutrition Operations:
Manage and oversee football nutrition operations to include
oversight of menu planning, meal ordering, fueling stations, inventory, ordering, accepting deliveries, scheduling, rotation of product, and other daily operations. Collaborate with football operations and dining partners to ensure menus meet performance nutrition standards for all fueling occasions.

Nutrition Counseling & Education:
Provide 1-on-1 counseling to football student-athletes. Assess body composition and bone mineral density via
DXA
, assess nutritional status and dietary habits, provide medical nutrition therapy counseling / appropriate nutrition interventions, give referrals and necessary updates to all relevant Sports Performance staff members, evaluate nutrition related laboratory values and supplement in accordance to Departmental protocol, identify the need for and coordinate care with Sports Psychology and Team Physician regarding disordered eating behaviors, and monitor metrics / document encounters in
EMR
.

Management:
Oversee the daily management of football hourly workers. Recruit, train, hire,
schedule hourly workers, and track budget.

Team Education:
Deliver team education through presentations, cooking classes, educational materials, social media, newsletters, and signage.

Departmental Responsibilities:
Act as a cohesive member of the Sports Performance Department by keeping up to date on current sports nutrition practices and research relevant to the health, wellness, and optimal performance of student-athletes. Collaborate with University staff and other disciplines regarding the Supplement Safety, Eating Disorder, and Performance Dining Committees.
● Other duties as assigned in alignment with Sports Nutrition goals.
Working Condition:
● Will require flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and team travel
● Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-performance environment
● Typical lifting of supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs
To join our team, you must be driven to lead, educate, and serve our student-athletes. Organization, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently are just a few of the qualities necessary for this role. In addition, you must possess the following to be considered:
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or related field from an accredited college or university is required.
1 to 2 years experience working with a football sports nutrition department at a Division 1 school or other noteworthy entity.
Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Must have knowledge of
NCAA
rules and regulations, specifically in regards to supplements, is required.
Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
Master’s degree or advanced certification beyond Bachelor’s
Experience with iDXA and body composition testing is preferred.
