Summary:
The Sports Performance Coordinator reports directly to the Athletics Director and coordinates and implements all necessary aspects of the Athletics Sports Performance, Strength Programs within the guidelines of the Athletics Department, the University, and NCAA rules.

Directing appropriate pre-training session and pre-contest preparations and warm ups, and working with qualified sports medicine personnel or athletic trainers during all training sessions and contests.
Build, coordinate, and track player strength and conditioning plans in accordance with their specific needs and goals.
Lead all aspects of the team’s athletic performance assessment and monitoring processes.

Build, coordinate, and track player strength and conditioning plans in accordance with their specific needs and goals.
Lead all aspects of the team’s athletic performance assessment and monitoring processes.
Build and execute sports performance initiatives across all sports
Manage and track regular physiological and biomechanical assessments and adjust plans as needed.
Interpret player data along with general movement observations to build detailed strength training, conditioning, and injury prevention training requirements.
Analyze and interpret complex information to share with administration, coaches, and athletes.
Develop and execute key sport science processes, including monitoring and management of player workloads and recovery.
Contribute to the development and communication of corrective, rehabilitation and return-to-play programs.
Assist in the evaluation of player movement performance and proficiency.
Manage upkeep of performance training and sport science facilities, equipment and technology.
Develop and implement performance strategies, policies and procedures.
Support and aid in the professional development and working practices of team Athletic Performance Coaches.
Analyze and teach the fundamental skills of strength and conditioning.
Assist with developing strength programs for all sports.
Implement necessary safety measures in the weight room while conducting strength and conditioning programs.
Assist with setting weight room schedules for various teams.
Collaborate with sports coaches to develop and implement individualized strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes of assigned teams.
Conduct physical screening/assessment of individual student-athletes of assigned teams and implement customized, corrective exercises.
Maintain National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification and Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach certification (RSCC).
Execute all duties and responsibilities within Alabama A&M University, South Western Athletics Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Work cooperatively with Athletic Training Staff to support the injury prevention and/or rehabilitation of Alabama A&M University athletes.
Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, including weight machines and other strength and conditioning equipment, including regular inspection and recommendation on repair/replacement as necessary.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
Bachelor’s degree
8-10 years of experience as a certified sports performance, strength and conditioning coach for high performance athletes.
Experience contributing to applied sports performance research and development initiatives.
Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, with a high attention to detail.
Ability to travel with the team as needed.
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
A proven record of integrity, high principles, and demonstrated skill in developing and motivating student-athletes academically and athletically.
