The Athletic Trainer position is an unclassified position responsible for the prevention, recognition, management, and rehabilitation of injuries incurred by athletes.
85% Provide daily medical coverage to over 10 members of the Men's Basketball program including: injury prevention, recognition & assessment, injury treatment & rehabilitation as well as referrals for athletic & non-athletic injuries and ailments, maintaining accurate records of injuries; Coordinate or provide transportation to medical appointments; work collaboratively with Director of Wellness, Director of Sport Psychology and the dietitian in the thoughtful evaluation and referral to ADAP services; coordinate medical coverage as host for all NCAA post-season events for basketball; assist in the evaluation and supervision of Athletic Training Students assigned to men's basketball.
10% Coordination of Pre-participation physicals for all student-athletes.
5% Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the creation of a respectful culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Other duties as assigned.
Senior Associate Athletic Trainer Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, or related field with seven years experience as an Athletic Trainer at the collegiate or professional level; NATA Certified for at least seven years and eligibility for Louisiana state licensure; CPR/AED Certified
Associate Athletic Trainer Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, or related field with five years experience as an Athletic Trainer at the collegiate or professional level; NATA Certified for at least five years and eligibility for Louisiana state licensure; CPR/AED Certified
Special or Physical Requirements:
Ability to work extended days, weekends, holidays and on-call emergencies. Travel is required. Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds. Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities, this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University PS-67. Pre-employment drug screen and physical are required.
