About the Job
Job Description

Grand Valley State University Athletics is anchored in the relentless pursuit of greatness. We are recruiting a staff athletic trainer to deliver high quality comprehensive healthcare to top-performing student-athletes competing at one of the most successful NCAA Division II institutions. This newly created full time (12-month) position will join our already robust healthcare team beginning June 1, 2026.

Our team consists of 10 full-time clinical athletic trainers, a non-clinical athletics healthcare administrator, 5 primary team physicians including a medical director and surgical director, 5 sport performance coaches, a full-time physical therapist, and an administrative assistant. We also work with a third-party administrator (TPA) for insurance claims.

The staff athletic trainer will provide comprehensive care with an emphasis on preventative strategies, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, rehabilitation, return to play progression and interdisciplinary collaboration under the direction of a physician and under the supervision of the Associate Athletics Director for Athletics Healthcare and Head Athletic Trainer. This individual will work within the guidelines set forth by Michigan Licensure, the GVSU Standards of Professional Practice, the BOC Professional Standard of Practice and the BOC Practice Domains and Tasks.

Our purpose is to provide the highest quality student-athlete centered health care and wellness to impact the student-athlete experience.

GVSU Athletics is committed to creating a desirable work environment for collegiate athletic trainers and strives to address the issues that deter many healthcare providers from the setting. We are proud to provide a supportive work environment that values your well-being as much as your professional achievements.

This position includes a comprehensive benefits package in addition to State of Michigan Athletic Trainer licensure fee, professional organization dues (NATA/GLATA/MATS), BOC annual maintenance fee, staff parking, cell phone, laptop and recreation center membership.

Salary & Benefits

$50,000.00

Comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, dental, life insurance, generous employer retirement contributions, wellness resources and tuition waiver effective on date of hire.
