Strategic Communications Coordinator is responsible for assisting with day-to-day media relations department activities that include: press releases, general features, photography, statistics, press box/game day operations, publications, podcasting, generating creative content that drives engagement on social media, and webcasting.
Strategic Communications Coordinator will assist the Assistant AD for Strategic Communications in developing brand strategy and providing creative concepts and designs for various UNCG Athletics campaigns. Assists External Relations team by producing creative content for social media, recruiting, ticket sales, marketing, in-game promotions, and video boards.
They will ensure consistency in brand guidelines and messaging related to content and posting. The Strategic Communications Coordinator will execute video and graphic design content for UNCG Athletics and assigned sports, producing game day and postgame graphics as well as statistical update graphics throughout the season.
The Coordinator has specific team responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant AD for Strategic Communications. The Coordinator is expected to assist in navigating the rapidly changing world of communications and will aggressively position the department to take advantage of opportunities through online resources, social media and other emerging mediums.
The Coordinator will be motivated to push UNCG Athletics Strategic Communications to be among the most innovative in intercollegiate athletics. This position will assist with Spartan All Access Webcasts, interact with local, regional and national media, write and edit articles for various publications with a focus on telling the student-athlete story, and maintain appropriate records.
The Coordinator will disseminate information in a timely fashion to media outlets regionally and nationally. The Coordinator must be in close contact with local print and electronic media outlets as well as the campus newspaper.
The Coordinator must demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with and supervise volunteers from the student population and local community. These individuals will serve as statisticians, public address announcers and office workers.
The Coordinator assists with on-site media relation services with an emphasis on all home contests. These services include statistics keeping and reporting of results to media outlets.
BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN A DISCIPLINE RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.

- This position will work with assigned sports to provide in-depth coverage, including but not limited to gameday and postgame graphic creation, feature stories, gameday preview stories while interacting with local, regional and national media. In addition, website maintenance, which includes accurate rosters, statistics and archiving for responsible sport are essential components of this role.
- The successful candidate will also edit articles for various publications, and maintain appropriate records.
