• Experience in general maintenance and repair of a weight room.
• Knowledge of the physiological adaptations of the human body to active exercise; of
teaching the safe and correct techniques in execution of weight training, speed
development and conditioning.
• Ability to motivate and evaluate specific individual psychic and physical needs
respectively.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both coaches and athletes.
• Ability to lift and carry 50-80 pounds frequently and up to 100+ pounds occasionally.
• Must stay abreast of program and design methodologies for respective sports within
Athletics.
OTHER:
• Irregular hours, outside work, and travel from office to other locations are required on a regular basis.
QUALIFICATIONS :
REQUIRED: Must have a Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Performance and similar. Weight training certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS ) or (CSCCA). Demonstrated experience as a weight/strength coach at the collegiate level, NCAA or professional-level (a minimum of one year of experience is strongly desired).PREFERRED: At least three years of professional experience in post-secondary academic advising within athletics counseling/advising, including direct experience in working with at-risk student-athletes. Knowledge of the NCAA rules and regulations.
