CRITERIA: Must be classified degree-seeking student in a Masters program under the UHM Office of Graduate Education; be a Graduate School student enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours per semester at the University of Hawai‘i, M?noa. Note: International students must take 8 or more credits (full-time) which is a requirement to have a I-20; maintain the requirements of a Graduate School student including Grade Point Average requirements; and be in good academic standing.
BENEFITS: The maximum amount a Graduate Student Assistant may receive will be equal to a Graduate School (General) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa tuition and fees (general) up to 9 credits maximum. Tuition does not include payment for Outreach College extension courses. GSA will be responsible for payment to Outreach College. Graduate Student Assistants will receive a monthly stipend for room and board (Student-Athlete Grant in Aid equivalency from 11 months (July through May). The Department will pay for Graduate Student Assistant’s required books (up to 9 credit hours). All benefits will be prorated should the approval and clearance be after July 1, 2024. Appointment renewable upon satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Individual Associated with a Prospective Student-Athlete -- Football and Basketball. An individual associated with a prospective student-athlete is any person who maintains (or directs others to maintain) contact with prospective student-athlete, the prospective student-athlete’s relatives or legal guardians, or coaches at any point during the prospective student-athlete’s participation in football and/or basketball, and whose contact is directly or indirectly related to either the prospective student-athlete’s athletic skills and abilities or the prospective student-athlete’s recruitment by or enrollment in an NCAA institution. This definition includes, but is not limited to, parents, legal guardians, handlers, personal trainers and coaches. An individual who meets this definition retains such status during the enrollment of the prospective student-athlete at the institution.
Appointment Period: July 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, or related field and one (1) year experience in strength and conditioning training at the collegiate level preferred or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Current certification through a nationally accredited strength and conditioning association (CSCCa or NSCA) and current first aid/CPR and AED certification. Strong work ethic, great energy and enthusiasm, desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning.
Desirable Qualifications: USAW certification.
