Associate Director for Student Athlete Academic Services
The Student-Athlete Academic Coordinator (
SAAC
) reports to the Associate Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services and is responsible to support the academic and personal development of student-athletes. This role collaborates closely with various university offices to assess student-athletes’ academic and holistic needs, coordinating specialized programs and services to foster independence and self-reliance. Responsibilities include developing individualized study plans, addressing academic and non-academic barriers to success, and providing guidance on factors impacting retention and academic achievement. This role requires compliance with
NCAA
, conference, and university regulations and operates in an active, highly visible environment both within and outside the institution. The
SAAC
does not report to Athletics but collaborates closely with coaches and Athletic support staff to support student-athlete success.

Student-Athlete Support and Academic Monitoring:
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized learning plans for assigned student-athletes.
Meet regularly with student-athletes to assess and track academic progress throughout each semester, including mid-semester and end-of-term evaluations.
Coordinate with academic advisors to keep them informed about academic and degree progress for student-athletes on assigned teams.
Monitor roster changes and study hall sessions, providing weekly updates on study hours to coaches.
Meet with prospective student-athletes and families during recruiting visits, providing information about academic resources and support services.
Academic Programming and Workshops:
Conduct workshops focused on supporting academic success and personal development for student-athletes.
Collaborate with university offices to identify and implement additional support resources as needed.
Compliance and Reporting:
Monitor and track student-athlete
NCAA
, conference, and institutional eligibility, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies.
Track and document student-athlete travel, ensuring compliance with travel policies and assisting with travel documentation.
Manage the preparation and timely dissemination of detailed academic progress reports for student-athletes to coaches and support staff.
Collaborate with admissions to review preliminary and transfer credit evaluations to ensure
NCAA
continuing eligibility
Retention and Success Initiatives:
Support retention and graduation goals by developing and implementing strategies to enhance student-athlete academic success.
Identify academic and non-academic barriers to success and work proactively to address them through individualized support plans.
Professional Collaboration and Development:
Contribute to a positive work environment and foster respectful, professional working relationships with colleagues and student-athletes.
Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as budget permits.
Comply with all
NCAA
, conference, and institutional policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Sports Management, or a related field is required.
Skills:
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases (e.g., Word, Excel, Banner,
EAB
Navigate).
Ability to solve complex problems and make informed decisions.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Knowledge of multiple majors, colleges, and schools.
Familiarity with university policies and procedures.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a busy office setting.
Demonstrated understanding of
NCAA
rules and collegiate academic programs.
Knowledge of
FERPA
requirements and best practices.
Skill in maintaining accurate records and meeting deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
