The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Department of Athletics is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Student-Athlete Services Advisor. Seawolf Athletics is a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC), and competes in multiple National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) divisions. The Seawolf program features 13 teams competing at both the Division 1 and Division II levels.

As the Student-Athlete Services Advisor, you will be an essential member of our team in empowering student-athletes to excel both on the field and in the classroom. In this pivotal role, you’ll be the go-to resource for academic guidance, NCAA eligibility expertise, and policy interpretation, helping student-athletes navigate their academic journey with confidence. You’ll collaborate with coaches, faculty, and campus partners to ensure students meet degree requirements, stay on track for graduation, and have access to the resources they need to succeed. They should possess proven skills in policy development, regulatory interpretation, and investigative processes, along with proficiency in databases such as Banner and Teamworks, Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), Google Workspace, PDF editing tools, and DocuSign. Experience in fiscal management, time-management under competing priorities, and the ability to travel or work flexible hours will be key to success in this role.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related field and four years of progressively responsible relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Master’s degree preferred.

Familiarity with NCAA rules governing academic progress toward degree completion, including requirements for eligibility and degree certification preferred. Experience with NCAA Compliance Assistant and Teamworks Academics to track eligibility and academic progress preferred.

Additional Requirements:

FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.

GNAC and NCAA required learning modules completed within 30 days of the job start date.

UA Safe Title IX certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.

Applicant must possess an unrestricted Alaska driver's license or be able to obtain an unrestricted Alaska driver's license within 90 days of accepting the job. In addition, the applicant must meet the University's safe driving criteria.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage.  This is a full-time, 12 month, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
