OPERATIONS - Will be responsible for handling the operations for the Men’s and Women’s Golf programs. This will include the areas of team travel, compliance, scheduling practices, student-managers, and organization of team calendar. Responsible for establishing the schedule and sport requirements for all away events, including the contacting of the host University to coordinate the activities associated with the visit. This includes all post-season tournament games. By meeting with a variety of constituents, this person is responsible for the development of the master calendar for both Golf programs. Serve as the liaison for both golf programs to various internal stakeholders (e.g., compliance, business office, communications, travel office, event management, marketing & fan experience, etc.).
MANAGING HOME EVENTS – Serve as the primary operational contact for seven (7) host events: Two (2) fall home events; two (2) host events in Puerto Rico in spring; two (2) home events in spring; and the Boiler Cup (fall fundraiser event for the men’s golf program). Including coordinating rules officials for these home events.
COACHING/INSTRUCTING – Provide instruction, training, and motivation to prepare student-athletes for practice or competitive events. Instruct student-athletes in sport performance principles, game strategies, and safety rules. Observe athletes in practice and training, analyze performance data/statistics, and instruct athletes on technique. Plan, schedule, organize and conduct practice sessions. Assist with transporting student-athletes at individual events (i.e., events were we may not coach but may provide expenses; events were we are permitted to coach and provide expenses). Conduct practice activities for student-athletes not on the travel squad.
RECRUITING – Recruit potential student-athletes via telephone calls, letters, emails, evaluations at competitions, or home visits. Make recommendations regarding whether or not to extend official campus visits and/or athletic grant-in-aid support to head coach. Detail student-athlete assessments through written recruiting reports/notes and provide recommendations on student-athlete recruitment. Recommend locations and student-athletes to be targeted for future recruitment efforts.
STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING/WELLNESS – Partner with strength and conditioning staff and athletic trainers on student-athletes overall physical preparation and health status. Assist in planning and developing strength and conditioning programs including scheduling, coordinating workouts, providing motivational support and reinforcement to enable student-athletes to achieve maximum performance. Review and maintain progress records/stats and recommend changes to achieve desired goals, as necessary.
ACADEMICS/STUDENT-ATHLETE SUPPORT – Mentor student-athletes on academic and personal issues. Discuss class registration deadlines and follow-up to ensure required paperwork is completed, reports of missed classes or study table hours. On road trips, conduct study sessions, if needed. Partner with Athletics Student Services to identify and monitor academically “at risk” student-athletes. Recommend disciplinary action to resolve athletic, academic or behavior problems as they arise.
