Gardner-Webb University invites applications for a temporary, part-time University Counselor (Counselor). The Counselor will be responsible for providing individual, couples, and group counseling services to University students for 20 hours a week. The Counselor is responsible for participating in the counselor on-call rotation. The Counselor reports to the Director of Counseling Services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Counseling Services;
Provides individual, couples, and group counseling to Traditional Undergraduate, Degree Completion Program, Graduate, and Physician Assistant students;
Determines appropriate treatments to address symptoms, and helps clients plan and prepare for crisis intervention;
Collaborates with other mental health care providers, physicians, and referral agencies to understand client issues and report progress;
Serves in counselor on-call rotation;
Works with Athletic Training Department to maintain annual NCAA mental health screening requirements;
Performs other duties as directed;
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Master’s degree in related area, three to five years related experience and/or training in a college or university setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience working in a college setting is preferred.
Must possess certification and licensure for counseling in North Carolina (NC LCMHC/LCMHCA) or be eligible for licensure and/or certification.
