Internship Description:The intern will be working in the data analytic, statistic, video sector of the Men’s Soccer program. The Coaching Staff along with the Director of Operations will provide guidance throughout their internship. The intern will need to be able to quantify data for the staff and players to reflect on to enhance their efforts on and off the field. We also have a partnership with DSA labs and they will also use their software and communicate with their staff to record and analyze data. DSA Labs is a tech company that provides software for the intelligent management of sports data.Approximate hours of time will be spent in different areas including: At practices – approximately 8-15 hours a week. At games – approximately 3-6 hours per week. Re-watching film sessions – approximately 4 hours per week. Job Responsibilities: Setting up / Prepping the camera and scorecards for the practices and games Breaking down camera and finalizing data Recording, uploading, cutting up, tagging video of practices and games and sharing the information gathered with the coaching staff post practices Responsible for software data-entry Communication with NCSU MSOC Coaching Staff and DSA-Labs to determine useful metrics and evaluation cards Use and operate DSA labs software, Statlink, Angles, Wyscout, Veo, Hudl to collect, tag, code and analyze video and data Learning outcomes: Greater knowledge of how to enhance an athlete’s understanding of their performance via their data Certificate: Under DSA Lab Director of Analytics and Intern Program Director, Dr. Jon Nichols, interns will work towards DSA Laboratories Certificate of Sports Data Analytics More advanced students can learn more about data-interpretation Structure/Supervisor: Training will be done live and virtually. Support via NCSU Men’s Soccer Staff and DSA Labs provided throughout the internship with mentorship, feedback, and to answer any questions. Report under DSA-Labs staff and collaborate with NCSU for game and practice data entry and analysis. Create a cadence of data-entry assignments and feedback on a weekly basis.
Someone who is comfortable using software programs or apps on their phone, tablet and/or laptop/PC. Must be currently enrolled as a NCSU student.

Someone who is comfortable using software programs or apps on their phone, tablet, or laptop/PC. Someone who is interested in learning about data analytics and is passionate about soccer / sports. Someone who is organized and takes initiative with the game schedule, email communication, and general communication with the men’s soccer staff and DSA-Labs. Someone who is comfortable watching soccer games and entering data simultaneously. Someone who is a fast learner and can effectively and proficiently get tasks done. Attention to detail. Great with time management. Familiarity with API integration, HTML and Python are a huge plus.
