Minimum Starting Salary: $9,000 annually
Summary:
The primary function of this position is to be the Assistant Sports Performance coach working under the supervision of Director of Sports Performance for assigned intercollegiate athletic teams at the University of Illinois Springfield instructing student-athletes on safe and effective exercises, speed development, change of direction skills, and conditioning for enhancing athletic ability and injury prevention.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, sport management, kinesiology, recreation or related field required.
National Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association’s Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association’s Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification (SCCC) are required. CPR/First Aid certification required. Evening and weekend work required as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous collegiate experience working with strength and conditioning for student-athletes preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong professionalism, communication skills, and leadership skills.
Ability to motivate student-athletes to perform to their optimal level.
Ability to work successfully with a diverse campus community.
