General Information:
James Madison University, a Division I Member of the NCAA and Sun Belt Conference, is seeking an Assistant Coach for its Women’s Basketball Program. This position is a full-time, 12-month position with a full comprehensive benefits package. The anticipated start date is upon first availability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coaching, training and motivating student-athletes in order to achieve competitive success.
Supporting the administration of the program. Duties include assisting the head coach in organizing and scheduling practices, facilities, games and weight program; supervise the care, maintenance and inventory of equipment; travel with the team, scout opponents, academic liaison and other duties as assigned by the head coach.
Assisting with the recruiting of quality student-athletes who meet admission requirements and who have the potential to graduate and other recruiting needs as assigned by the head coach.
Encouraging player development by possessing a demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically is essential. Ensuring compliance with all relevant institutional, Sun Belt Conference, NCAA rules and regulations.
Scouting Coordinator – Lead all scouting activities and oversee Video Coordinator as it relates to planning and developing scouting activities.
Overseeing Transfer, International and Junior College Recruiting. Organize, plan, and execute the recruiting game plan for these areas. Develop and oversee a system to evaluate transfers in the portal, traveling to foreign countries to spend time face to face with prospects, and spending time recruiting junior college transfers.
Qualifications:
Required:
5 years of Division 1 experience
Thorough understanding of NCAA, Conference and University rules and regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively and work well with students, parents, faculty, staff, and community
Bachelor's degree
